Ballinkillen usually
spelt Ballinkillin on maps, is a small village situated between
Borris and Bagenalstown (Muine Bheag) in County Carlow which is
situated in south east Ireland. It includes a national school, a
local shop, a hurling pitch (Mc Donnell Park) and 2 housing estates,
one of which is a new housing estate called "Schoolhouse Gate".
Close to Ballinkillen are the market towns of Bagenalstown (8km),
Borris (7km), and Goresbridge (3km), now world famous for its horse
sales. The village is only 15 miles from Carlow or Kilkenny.
The main recreational attractions in the Ballinkillen area are
mountain and hill walking, fishing and swimming on the river Barrow,
historic sites at Ballyloughan & Ballymoon Castles and golfing. |
