Butlersbridge was
named after Stephen Butler, the founder of Belturbet. It is a

enters Lough Erne. Nearby Annagh Lake provides both fly-fishing and
swimming facilities. Game Angling on the River Annalee is also
popular (permit required). There is good fishing at Deredis near
Butlersbridge. The season lasts from March to September. A canoe
centre on Lough Oughter offers canoe lessons or canoe hire for the
day.
Butlersbridge is located just 5km north of Cavan Town on the N3. The
Cavan Equestrian Centre and County Cavan Golf Club are nearby. The
Radisson SAS Farnham Estate is 5km from Butlersbridge and the Slieve
Russell Hotel and Championship Golf Club is 21km away.
The local pubs are renowned for good food and weekend entertainment.
Local pub and restaurant, The Derrygarra Inn, which has won many
national and regional awards, is noted for its 'mock thatched' roof
and its displays of various agricultural and domestic artefacts. |
