Redhills is a
picturesque border village laid out around a central demesne. The
village is located about 13km from Cavan Town and about 9km from
Clones. Redhills was made famous as the location for the films 'The
Playboys' and 'The Run of the Country'. The local pubs display many
photographs from these films. Shane Connaughton, the author of 'A
Border Station' and writer of the acclaimed screenplay for 'My Left
Foot', also has associations with the town
A short distance from the Monaghan and Fermanagh borders, Redhills
is a village in a good location for coarse fishing in the nearby
rivers and lakes.
The ruins of a castle dating from the 17th Century lie just outside
the village on the Ballyhaise road. |
