Inch Island, a small
island connected to the mainland, in Lough Swilly, is home to an
important population of migratory birds and wintering waterfowl.
Three species, Whooper Swan, Greenland White-fronted Goose and
Greylag Goose, occur in numbers of international importance.
Inishowen Holiday Homes The
hugely historic Inch Castle which dates back to the 15th Century and
is connected with the flight of the Earls, can also be explored on
the island. There's a fine sandy beach on the south western shore
and with some scenic drives, Inch Island makes a great place for a
relaxed
self catering holiday in Inishowen.
A 20 min. drive southwards takes you to the historic
City of Derry while Inishowen's main town, Buncrana, is a 15 min.
drive to the north. There a few very good restaurants in the village
of Fahan and a fabulous sandy beach. |
