This tiny village is
situated in wonderful touring routes around Gweebarra Bay, offering
stunning views.The village has two shops, 'Clerkins', a family run
service station, and 'the Cope'. There are 4 pubs; Elliotts, the
Gweebarra Bar (also known as McCreadys) and Packies Bar. "Leitir"
has a population of about a thousand people. Few regions in Ireland
can boast of the magnificent coastal and mountain scenery
surrounding Leitir. The beautiful Gweebarra Bay and estuary attract
many admirers while Dooey beach is one of nature's great unspoilt
beauties and a favourite with surfers from around Ireland and
beyond. Nearby Glenveagh National Park attracts thousands of nature
lovers every year while Doochary, some 5 miles from Leitir is a
beautiful village nestling in the hills at the top of the Gweebarra
