find holiday homes in Portnablagh

Portnablagh, along
with neighbouring Dunfanaghy, is well-known for its beaches and
picturesque harbour. It attracts many tourists, mostly from Northern
Ireland, every summer. The small harbour is well protected on 3
sides and has a relatively short slipway which gets frequent use by
fishing and pleasure boat owners, particularly during summer months.
It provides access for boat owners to a large number of beaches in
Sheephaven Bay, many of which are only accessible on foot or by sea.
For fresh water fishing, the beautiful Sessiah Lake is located above
the village - you can fish here or just take a leisurely walk along
its shores. To the south of the village is the excellent Ards Forest
Park, hundreds of acres of open space, woodland, seashore and nature
trails - open to the public throughout the year. A kilometre to the
north you'll find the popular seaside village of Dunfanaghy with its
pubs, restaurants and 18 hole links course. The Dunfanaghy Workhouse
combines a famine museum with other facilities including a coffee
shop, craft shop and exhibition area. |
