Ederney is a small
village in County Fermanagh located in the tranquil Glendarragh
Valley just over 2 miles from Lower Lough Erne. It is centrally
located between the two main towns in the region - Enniskillen and
Omagh. In Ederney there is a townhall, children's playground, pitch
and putt course, tennis court, and football park.
Local historic sites include Drumskinney Stone Circle and the Deer
Park (Kilterney), which is an ancient religious settlement.
Ederney's old Townhall, the Glendarragh Wishing Well and St.
Joseph's Church are also interesting landmarks that particularly
characterize the village and surrounding area.
Situated about 100 metres outside Ederney Village on the Main Road
to Omagh, the Glendarragh Wishing Well is an unusual covered Wishing
Well and is the only one of its kind in the local area. Access to
the Well is obtained through a Kissing Gate which is located near to
the roadside. On the hill overlooking the well is the original set
of toll gates for gaining access to Ederney.
