Garrison is a small
village in the west Fermanagh just 5 miles south of Belleek. It is
situated at the eastern end of Lough Melvin. The Roogagh River runs
through the village
At one time Garrison boasted an Ironworks and a Distillery. It was
renowned for fairs and horse races, but it has prospered most in
recent times from the tourist industry. With its position on the
Roogagh River at Lough Melvin, Garrison is a genuine mecca for
anglers. Lough Melvin is internationally renowned for its salmon and
three rare species of trout, the Gillaroo, the Songahan and the
Ferox.
In addition to fishing Visitors to Garrison can enjoy a wide range
of activities including golfing, hill-walking, water sports,
horse-riding, cycling, camping and caving. |
