Kesh is a small,
well-developed village in north west Fermanagh, beautifully located
on the Kesh river just a couple of miles from Lower Lough Erne. Many
visitors to the Fermanagh hire boats at Kesh to explore the Lough
and the River. The Marina is well equipped and very picturesque,
Just outside the village is Muckross Quay, a spectacular entry point
to Lough Erne offering boating and fishing facilities. Kesh has a
history of producing some fine specimen catches, with Trout of over
19lb and Pike of almost 40lb being landed in the past.
Kesh lies just 5 miles from the border with the Republic of Ireland
and 22 miles from the seaside resort of Rossnowlagh in County
Donegal, thus adding to its popularity with holiday makers,
day-trippers and weekenders.
The remains of Crevenish Castle lie to the south-east of the village
on the Crevenish Road. During its time it was home to the
Blennerhasset and Maguire families. |
