The Gaeltacht village
of Costelloe is on the main Galway Carraroe road, close to Carraroe.
It's Irish name 'Casla' means sea inlet. Indeed the Irish form Casla
is more commonly used than Costelloe by English speakers, even when
using English. Casla is also used by the local community and local
media.
This village is the National headquarters for Radio na Gaeltachta
and TG4, the state sponsored Irish speaking radio and TV service,
established in 1972
Costello and Fermoyle Fisheries near the village provides fly
fishing for trout and salmon on the lovely Casla River system, which
includes several lakes |
