Recess is a village
set among superb lake and mountain scenery in County Galway. On one
side of the village is Glendalough Lake and on the other Derryclare
Lough. North of Derryclare, Lough Inagh stretches along the
glaciated valley of Glen inagh, separating the Twelve Bens from the
Maamturk Mountains. Given this location it is no surprise that
Recess is a popular angling resort.
Recess is a traditional stopping-off point on the Connemara Loop.
The holy shrine of Mámean is nearby and is a perfect place to walk
for both the beauty surrounding you and the sense of a bygone era.
The pitch and putt course in Recess is also worth a visit as you
would be hard pushed to find a more scenic location for a game.
Recess is famous worldwide for its green Connemara Marble quarries.
The marble quarries can be found at the lower slopes of the Mountain
ranges. |
