Beaufort is a quaint
village located is the heart of mid Kerry just over 10km west of
Killarney town. It has an idyllic location at the foot of the
McGillycuddy Reeks, Ireland's highest mountain range with
Carrauntoohill peaking at 3414 feet. Just outside Beaufort is the
world renowned Gap of Dunloe - a fine example of a glacial valley.
You can walk, cycle or take a pony and trap through the valley
(approx 10km)
Part of the Churchtown Estate outside Beaufort is the setting for a
wonderful championship golf course. Set amongst 200 year old trees,
15th century castle ruins, two lakes and rolling meadows, Beaufort
Golf Course has been newly redeveloped to the highest standards.
This 7004 yard Parkland Golf Course is carved from natural terrain
and is suited to all standards of golfer.
Beaufort is a short distance from the shores of Lake Leane - one of
the famous Killarney Lakes. The Killarney Lakes are three in number,
Lake Leane, Middle Lake and Upper Lake, all of which are all
excellent for salmon and brown trout. Boats and ghillies can be
arranged
Access to the Killarney National Park is less than 20km from
Beaufort. It consists of 25,000 acres of lakes, rivers, mountains,
wildlife and walks where all year round you can commune with nature
without interruption.
