Brosna is a pretty
hill-top village overlooking the Feale Valley in the north east of
County Kerry. It is situated close to the county boundary with Cork
and Limerick. The village is located approximately 19km from
Castleisland and 11km from Abbeyfeale. The Clydagh River, a
tributary of the Feale forms a natural western boundary to the
village. The striking ruin of Kilmurray Castle dates from the 16th
century. The attached fortified house was built in the following
century.
The Con Curtin Music Festival is held annually in Brosna. This
festival celebrates the traditional Irish Music style of Sliabh
Luachra. Con Curtin himself was a master of this nearly forgotten
art. Good craic and merriment is assured to be had by all. |
