Kill is an attractive
village which lies on Kildare's border with County Dublin. Over the
years this neat town has won numerous awards in the prestigious
National Tidy Towns Competition.
Behind the main street in Kill is a large earthen enclosure on Kill
Hill and a mote, which offers the visitor an impression of the
towns’ ancient past. Kill has been identified as the burial place of
the Kings of Leinster.
At nearby Goff's Kildare Paddocks major bloodstock sales are held,
as well as international snooker and exhibitions. Over half of all
Irish bred horses are sold here. Kill itself is steeped in
equestrian activities with the choice of two horse riding centres, -
Old Mill Riding Centre and the Kill International Equestrian Centre.
Kill is an ideal base for the keen golfer. There is a choice of four
18 hole golf courses all within a 10 km radius of Kill - Killeen ,
Naas, Craddockstown and The K-Club are first class golf courses and
all are open to green fees. Killeen Golf Club is just outside Kill
itself. The course is set on 110 acres of beautiful, flat
pastureland. The use of water in seven holes makes this course,
created to meet full USPGA specifications, a challenge for all
golfers. |
