Newbridge is located
in the heartland of County Kildare approximately 11km beyond Naas.
Situated on the banks of the River Liffey, this thriving town is a
major centre for industry and commerce, within the South Kildare
region.
Newbridge has plenty of shops, coffee shops, restaurants, hotels and
pubs. The White Water Shopping Centre in the town is the biggest
shopping centre in Ireland outside of Dublin. The town also offers a
great nightlife, especially with the addition of a new Riverbank
Arts Centre in the town. The centre hosts a wide range of plays &
other stage performances and is also an ideal venue as an art
gallery and an exhibition centre.
Another option for a lively and entertaining night out on the town
is a visit to Kildare's only Greyhound Track. Newbridge Dog Track is
at Hawkfield, only one mile from the town. Race meetings take place
every Monday and Friday at 8p.m. The famous Curragh Racecourse is
also within easy access of Newbridge. Newbridge Golf Club features
an 18-hole golf course with splendid views and varied wildlife that
will greatly appeal to most golfers.
Those interested in genealogy should visit the county library. The
library ia located on Athgarvan Road and is the location for the
Kildare Heritage & Genealogy Company which provides a research
service for those wishing to trace their family history.
