Annaduff is a small
picturesque village in the western part of County Leitrim. It is
located about 8km south east of Carrick-on-Shannon. The village is
set in beautiful countryside and is surrounded by panoramic views of
the River Shannon
Just outside the village is Gortinty Lake. This lake covers 60 acres
and contains stocks of bream, rudd, perch and pike. At Annaduff the
majestic river Shannon marks the border between Leitrim and
Roscommon as it meanders south through Lough Boderg. The river flows
past Annaduff Church, a 19th century Church of Ireland church with a
backdrop of trees built on the site of the 8th century Annaduff
abbey; the ruins of which are on the site of an earlier
ecclesiastical settlement. |
