The village of
Carrigallen is located in south east County Leitrim close to the
borders with counties Cavan and Longford.
This quaint little village is hidden away among the rolling Leitrim
hills in a region where every hollow seems to hold a lake and every
lake holds fish, with the Town Lake only 50 metres from the centre
of the village and Gangin Lake 500 metres south of the village.
The waters around Carrigallen form the upper reaches of the great
River Erne System. 8km to the west and south are a host of lakes and
rivers which eventually empty into the majestic river Shannon. The
Erne and the Shannon are the two greatest coarse fishing complexes
in all Europe. They are now linked by the Ballyconnell canel
creating the most extensive waterway in Europe for fishing, cruising
and watersports.
Carrigallen also plays host a Summer Festival every year where one
can enjoy a feast of entertainment including theatre, music, dance
with sporting events also featuring.
Carrigallen is a good centre for touring: Drumcoura City 8km, Lough
Rynn Estate 15km, Killykeen Forest Park 10km, Lough Key Forest Park
50km, with many other places of interest in the surrounding area.
