The village of Cloone
is located in south county Leitrim about 7km east of the town of
Mohill.
The tower section of Cloone Church is all that remains of an 1822
Church of Ireland Church. It was recently restored and is now a fine
landmark from which some of the fine angling waters in the area can
be seen. The Cloone area has a number of good waters such as Adoon,
Keeldra and Kiltyfea lakes. Lake Adoon has Bream,Pike, Perch and
Roach. Keeldra and Kiltyfea lakes both contain Pike and Perch and
Kiltyfea also has Bream, Rudd and Hybrids. The nearby town of
Ballinamore is internationally renowned for its abundance of coarse
angling waters.
Cloone's Annual Agricultural Show will takes place on the August
Bank Holiday Monday. Since its inception in 1988 Cloone show has
grown to become one of the premier agriculture shows in the west of
Ireland.
Keeldra lake near Cloone is currently the only designated outdoor
bathing area in county Leitrim with the water quality being tested
on a regular basis. The lake has a picnic area, with benches and a
facility building with changing area and toilets
