The charming village
of Dromod is located in the far south of County Leitrim close to the
border with County Roscommon. This noted fishing village lies on the
shores of Loughs Boderg and Bofin along the River Shannon. It is
situated just over 3km north of Roosky Town
Dromod village is a consistent "tidy towns" winner and has a very
attractive harbour area which is very popular with cruiser traffic.
The Bog Oak water feature in the heart of the village is entitled
"The Weeping Tree' and was made by a local craftsman from a piece of
bog oak which was found in the locality. The Cavan and Leitrim
Railway Museum is a popular attraction in the village and there are
some excellent pubs and restaurants. Loughs Bofin and Boderg
together with Kilglass Lake are important wildfowl sanctuaries and
Derrycarne Wood, 4km North of Dromod features some lovely walks. |
