attractive seaside village just 7km south of Dundalk in County
Louth. It is located on the western shore of Dundalk Bay and the
view looking north over the bay towards the Cooley Mountains is very
impressive.
This long-established resort perched on the very edge of the sea
continues to attract visitors all year round. During the summer
months Blackrock is alive with activity as visitors and locals avail
of the area’s extensive natural amenities, including the beaches and
coastal walks, as well as the local restaurants, pubs and cafes. The

reputation as a safe sailboarding venue.
More recently
kite-surfing is becoming popular in the area. The nearby Fane and
Castletown rivers hold sea trout and salmon. The Boyne, upstream of
Drogheda, is one of Ireland’s best salmon rivers. Blackrock is also
on the Oriel Trail, a 100 km touring trail through the high spots of
County Louth.
Blackrock is also home to the popular 18-hole Dundalk Golf Course,
just to the north of the village. Founded in 1905, Dundalk is
unquestionably one of Ireland's finest parkland layouts with the
course offering magnificent views of the nearby Cooley and Mourne
mountains, the Irish Sea and Dundalk Bay. Hosting National,
International and PGA events on a regular basis, Dundalk is a
