Ballinrobe is a town
located in the heart of the lake district of South County Mayo. It
is situated on the banks of the River Robe which flows into Lough
Mask two kilometres to the west of the town. This thriving market
town lies 48km north of Galway City, on the road which connects
Galway to Castlebar.
Ballinrobe is a very popular angling centre and is known as "The
Lake Angling Capital of the West". The River Robe and the proximity
of the great lakes of Mask, Corrib and Carra to the town provides

Corrib and Lough Mask alone. Fishermen come from all over the world
to compete in The World Cup and The Mayfly Fishing Competitions.

Castlebar road . Racing has been held on the current course since

Ballinrobe Golf Club is an 18 hole parkland course that has rapidly

of Ireland. Laid out in the old Clooncastle estate that dates back
to 1238, Ballinrobe golf club officially opened in 1992 on
well-drained land that was once part of the local agricultural
college. Although relatively new in golf terms, the listed
clubhouse, mature trees, lime kiln, old castle ruin and abundant
stone walls give Ballinrobe an old world charm so often absent from
newer courses
