Ashbourne is a
market town in Co Meath which is located 25km north of Dublin City
Centre and just 20km from Dublin Airport.
Form a small village of just 400 people in 1970, Ashbourne has grown
to become the second largest town in Meath after Navan. The growth
in Ashbourne's population has spurred expansion of local enterprise
and retail to cater for the growing populations needs. Today there
is a good selection of pubs and restaurants, fitness centres and
cinema.
Ashbourne Golf Club is a picturesque and challenging championship
parkland course. The course was designed by Declan Branigan Design
and former Ryder Cup Vice-Captain Des Smyth and is currently ranked
as one of Ireland’s top 100 Courses. The golf club was planned with
lakes and mature trees strategically placed to challenge even the
most experienced golfer. The Broadmeadow river flows through the
course further enhancing its beauty.
The Tayto Theme Park is located in Ashbourne. This is a modern
activity park with an excellent programme of activities for kids and
is an unforgettable day out for the whole family. Tayto have turned
55 acres of Meath farmland into an American-style themed park. It
offers over 100 attractions but the main draws are the animals -
porcupines, emus, wild cat, buffalo, highland cattle and many more
make this a real safari adventure in Ireland.
Just 10km north of Ashbourne is the Puddenhill Activity Centre. This
is one of Ireland’s leading family entertainment centres and
facilities include Indoor Karting, Paintball, Clay Pigeon Shooting,
Braveforce Assault Course, Children's Play Centre and Animal Farm
(seasonal).
Also 10km from Ashbourne is the renowned Fairyhouse Racecourse..
This venue is steeped in history, with a tradition of hospitality
and a reputation for entertaining. It has been home to the Irish
Grand National since 1870.
Ashbourne is ideally placed to explore to some of Irelands most
historical sites including Newgrange, Bective Abbey, The Hill of
Tara, Trim Castle and Kells. Dublin City is also only 20 minutes
from the town and offers an abundance of visitor attractions
including The Guinness Storehouse, The Custom House, Dublin Castle,
