Dunboyne is a
town located in the southern part of Co Meath. It is situated close
to the border with Dublin and is just 17km from O’Connell Street in
the centre of Dublin city.
The finest building in the town – Dunboyne Castle - was a great
Georgian house and was built as the seat of the Butler family, Lords
of Dunboyne. This 18th mansion is now part of the Dunboyne Castle
Hotel & Spa.
The neighbouring Blanchardstown Shopping Centre (8km) offers a huge
variety of shops and cafes along with one of Dublin's largest
multiplex cinemas. Other nearby attractions are Dublin Zoo , Phoenix
Park and The National Aquatic Centre. Dunboyne is also within easy
driving distance of a number of fine golf courses including
Ashbourne Golf Club, Black Bush Golf Club, Carton House Golf Club
and the County Meath Golf Club in Trim.
The Dunboyne Clonee Cycling Club built on the success of the 2010
Rás start, held in Dunboyne village, and have now created a cycling
festival. This festival is based in Dunboyne village and was held on
Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of May in 2011. The Dunboyne
Cycling Festival aims to encourage cyclists of all ages and levels
to come and sample a range of challenging and fun events. |
