The historic town of
Trim is situated on the river Boyne. It is a thriving town
where many activities, historical and cultural, regularly take
place. In the past Trim was the county town of Meath but this honour
is now held by Navan.
Trim, a designated heritage town, is renowned as one of Ireland's
most attractive towns and has something to offer everyone. With the
largest and most impressive Norman castle in Ireland, King John's
Castle, the intriguing Yellow Steeple, beautiful streets, parks and
walks, summertime floral displays, it is a haven of relaxation and
tranquillity. Trim
hosts several festivals and events on an annual basis, celebrating
ancient traditions and acknowledging the town's rich history and
rural heritage. These include the St Patrick's Day Festival, the
Swift Festival and the Trim Vintage Car Rally (both in July), the
Royal Meath Agricultural Show in September and the Spirits of Meath,
Halloween Festival at the end of October.
Situated less than 2 km from Trim, lies the County Meath Golf Club.
This superb 6088 metre par 73 parkland golf course is maintained to
a very high standard. Each hole tests every aspect of an
individual's game from tee to green.
The fairways are
designed to be a challenge for golfers who aspire to position
themselves long off the tee, but are forgiving to shorter drivers.
The greens are sand based, each with their own individual character,
some elevated, some two tiered and all guarded by approach bunkers
that pose questions of any approach shot about to be played. |
