Clonbullogue
is located near the point where three counties-Offaly, Laois and
Kildare meet. The village itself is in Co Offaly and is situated 8km
from Rathangan, 12km from Edenderry and 30km from Tullamore. The
Figile River runs through the village.
Between Clonbullogue and Edenderry lies the Bog of Allen - a
large raised bog in the centre of Ireland between the rivers Liffey
and Shannon. The visitor can enjoy bog walking through the flora and
fauna of this unique landscape.
The Clonbullogue airfield is located about 2 km west of
Clonbullogue village. It is owned and operated by the Irish
Parachute Club who are based at the field. There are six aircraft
based on the field, most of them owned by the club. There is usually
intense parachuting at weekends and public holidays.
Clonbullogue is n ideal base to explore the Irish Midlands.
Attractions in the region include, the Curragh Racecourse (20km),
the Japanese Gardens and National Stud (20km) and the historic town
of Tullamore (30km). |
