Ballincar is a
small coastal village on the northern shore of Sligo Bay.
Ballincar is
approximately 3.5 km north-west of Sligo City and 3.5km from Rosses
Point. This makes it an ideal holiday base – with a beach and golf
resort on one side and a modern vibrant town on the other side. The
Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa is located in the village itself. From
the village there are views over Sligo Bay towards Coney Island.
Just 5 minutes drive from Ballincar is the superb County Sligo Golf
Club at Rosses Point . This classic links course features dramatic
fairway undulations, raised greens, run-offs, cliffs, challenging
bunkering, streams and dunes. The views from the course are
breathtaking – the Dartry mountains and Benbulben, Drumcliffe Bay
and the Ox Mountains all come into view . The Strandhill Golf Club
is just 12km from Ballincar.
The beaches at Rosses Point are popular for sailing, kite surfing,
walking, swimming or just plain relaxing. Sea angling is also
available locally. Other attractions within easy driving distance of
Ballincar are Yeat’s Grave, Benbulben Mountain, the Carrowmore
Megalithic Tombs, Glencar Waterfall and Sligo Abbey. |
