An Rinn –or Ring – is
a Gaeltacht region located on a small peninsula that forms the
southern boundary of Dungarvan Bay in south west Co Waterford. An
Rinn is situated 10K south east of Dungarvan, 10k from Ardmore, 25km
from Youghal, 50K from Waterford City and airport and 50k from Cork
City and airport.
An Rinn has many town
lands but the main village is situated in Baile na nGall (Ballynagaul).
The region is beautifully situated, looking across Dungarvan Bay to
the lovely Comeragh mountains. Dungarvan Bay itself hosts a huge
variety of seabirds. There is a busy fishing pier at Helvick Head,
the most easterly point on the peninsula, as well as a fish market
and a lifeboat station. Helvic Head commands wonderful views over
the bay and the Waterford coastline and is a popular angling venue.
For walkers and bird watchers the Ring peninsula is dotted with
cliff top trails, unspoiled beaches, rolling hills and gentle glens.
There are a number of fine golf courses within easy driving distance
including Dungarvan Golf Club (14km) and the West Waterford Golf and
Country Club (12km)
The Irish language is the first language of the people of this area.
Colaiste na Rinne, an Irish language college, attracts many students
of the language for both summer and full term courses. Like many
Gaeltacht regions, An Rinn is renowned for its traditional singers
and musicians.
An Rinn hosts a number of different Festivals throughout the year.

showcasing a wide range of high-quality arts and crafts from local
Gaeltacht artists. Daonscoil na Mumhan is a week-long programme of
