Ballyduff is a small
village situated on the Blackwater River in north west Waterford. It
is located 10km from the heritage town of Lismore and 16km from
Fermoy in Co Cork.
Ballyduff village is the venue for the renowned Booley House Show.
This show is a feast of traditional Irish music, along with
wonderful singing, Irish Step and Set dancing . It also fosters the
unique legacy of the golden-tongued Irish story teller or 'seanachai'.
The show runs every Wednesday night in July and August.
Ballyduff is situated in the picturesque Blackwater Valley famous
for its trout and salmon fishing. The Ballyduff Bridge fishing beat
is one mile long and offers a variety of water and is particularly
suited to fly fishing catering for beginners and experienced anglers
alike.
The Harvest Festival is held in Ballyduff every summer in late
August. It is a traditional celebration of the harvest season, and
usually includes a vintage rally, a tractor brigade as well as all
kinds of fringe street entertainment.
The West Waterford Drama Festival is held in Ballyduff and takes
place at the beginning of March each year. Established in 1981 it is
regarded as one of the finest drama festivals in the country. |
